After Mondo unveiled Mondo’s deluxe 1/6th scale He-Man figure last month, the pop culture collectible company has given us another exclusive first look at their next installment in the Masters of the Universe series. As the first female figure in MOTU’s 1/6th scale action figure series, She-Ra will showcase the iconic figure in all her glory, with accessories that are both callbacks and forward looking.
With over 20 points of articulation and a cloth cape, this exclusive 1/6 scale Mondo She-Ra collectible figure promises to be the most powerful action figure you’ll find from here to Etheria. This PVC toy measures approximately 12 inches tall, weighs 4 pounds, and will be available for 48 hours on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 12:00 PM. The She-Ra character first appeared on the toy shelves in 1984 as a means to attract more female audiences that He-Man and the Masters of the Universe may have avoided until then. The protagonist’s alter ego is Princess Adora, the long-lost twin sister of Prince Adam/Prince Herman, and her nemesis is the evil Hodak, who got his 1/6 scale from the Mundo action figure.
The Filmation animated series She-Ra: Princess of Power, a spin-off of He-Man, ran from 1985 to 1986. The rebooted series titled She-Ra and the Mighty Princesses is coming to Netflix. A reality show based on the character is currently filming on Amazon from 2018 to 2020.
Finally reaching the 1/6th line of our ever-expanding Master of the Universe, the Princess of Power herself, She-Ra! She-Ra first appeared in the 1984 mini-comic The Story of She-Ra and quickly became a national pop culture icon and a positive symbol of the female image in cartoons, toys, and comics. As a legendary character, we here at Mondo know it’s our responsibility to present her in all of our amazing glory, and making her the first female character in our 1/6 MOTU series seems like the perfect fit for her body specs. For almost two full years, we’ve been working on every detail, making sure to keep the look and design of the original characters true, while updating them in a more modern way. It all starts with concept art… and one of the best and best artists is Emiliano Santalucia: his take on the character is both fresh and an homage to the original idea.
We then updated his concept to include the classic She-Ra headpiece and belt. Once our concept was approved, we started sculpting where we spent a lot of time making sure everything looked right. We trusted the craftsmanship of Tommy Hodges, obsessed with every detail, joint and accessory, until we found a good place. Mara Ancheta provided a prototype with her amazing drawing skills and we got in touch with Tom Rozejowski to paint her portrait. The end result is something we are all very proud of! In the end, we approached the amazing Raul Berrero to work on the photography and he (again) blew her away with the images.
