       The annual report includes data from 82 intellectual property owners in entertainment, toys, fashion, food and beverage and other sectors, with retail sales of licensed products totaling $273.4 billion, up nearly $15 billion from 2021 .

This year’s report shows retail sales of licensed consumer products will be $273.4 billion in 2022, with overall growth exceeding $26 billion for the more than 40 brands mentioned in the report.
       The annual Global Top Licensers report compiles information on global retail sales and experiences of licensed consumer products from the world’s largest brands across a variety of categories, including entertainment, sports, games, toys, corporate brands, fashion and apparel.
        The entertainment industry continues to generate the highest licensing revenue, with the world’s top five licensors alone generating $111.1 billion in revenue. The Walt Disney Company posted the largest growth in 2022, with retail sales of licensed consumer products increasing by a total of $5.5 billion.

        Mattel reported the most significant growth over time, with sales of licensed consumer products rising from $2 billion in 2019 to $8 billion in 2022.        New companies included in the 2023 Top Global Licensees report include Jazwares, Zag, Scholl’s Wellness Company, Just Born Quality Confections, Toikido, Fleischer Studios, AC Milan, B. Duck, Cardio Bunny and Duke Kahanamoku, among others.
        In addition to revealing company financial information, License Global forecasts the future of the industry in its Brandscape report, which uses survey data to forecast trends through 2024 and beyond. 60% of respondents named fashion as the most important area to increase engagement, impact and awareness through cross-brand collaborations. 62% of respondents also said fashion will be the top category to consider when working with licensees in 2024.
